SELF-THERAPY FOR STUTTERERS ( STS )
Stuttering is not a symptom of something but is a behavior that can be modified. As a stutterer you need to find ways and means for having a richer life through more fluent speech. The first thing you must do is to admit to yourself that you need to change, that you really want to do about the way you presently talk. Don’t sit around waiting for the right time for an inspiration to come to you- you must go for it. Original cause of stuttering:It may have resulted from an interaction of environmental and Hereditary factors. Whatever the cause, you need to be concerned about what you are doing now that perpetuates and maintains your difficulty Experimental therapy procedures: 1. You are to calmly stretch out and slide through all your words as you speak, which includes every vowel and consonant. 2. Your vocal cords should vibrate in a low steady tone. 3. It includes continuity of sound and airflow with no break, repetitions in your voice. 4. It gives you relief thus don’t hesitate to talk. Tell the people that you are working on your stuttering Ground Rule No. 1::There is nothing to be gained by force. The more you try to force trouble-free speech, the worse your stuttering will be |
